Clydesider Creative Ltd £5,000

To set up two community newsroom hubs with bases in Dumbarton and Clydebank, this would operate once a week. The newsrooms would be staffed by a member of Clydesider Creative who would be on hand to provide support to volunteers to develop their skills and grow their confidence in basic news gathering techniques. The funding would also be used to employ specialist sessional staff and provide additional training in different aspects of media work.

To install replace the old heating system in the community hall with a new gas fired suspending heating system which can be programmed to switch on only when the hall is being used. This will be more cost effective for the group and reduce their carbon footprint.

The group intend to buy a laptop to allow members to type and print scripts. The group would also like to purchase a safety rail which will be built by the Clydebank Men’s Shed, a sound system and microphone and a range of costumes and props to enhance the quality of the productions.

To support young people to fully complete all sections the Duke of Edinburgh award. This involves volunteering, physical, skill and expedition elements. The group requires funding to purchase equipment for this, so that cadets can achieve their award to a high standard.

Craft Group of Park Road £3,200

The project is to make Canny Cookers.  These are had made and require no source of energy (gas or electricity) to generate enough heat to work like a slow cooker. The group will also include a two handled pot. The group will provide training sessions and provide ingredients showing people how to cook using a Canny Cooker.

Old Kilpatrick Senior Citizens Tuesday Club £4,979

To continue to give our members something to look forward to and tackle social isolation. This would include having regular entertainment at the club, funding outings and providing food on special days such as St. Andrews Day, Easter, Christmas etc.

The group wish to continue the improvements they have made to the area by clearing the overgrowth from an area that used to be part of an old railway station and uncover some of the old platform. This will then be enhanced by garden planters, railway memorabilia and heritage signage.
