To encourage people from some of the poorest areas in West Dunbartonshire to share their stories and identify solutions to tackle poverty and help improve the quality of life in their area. To provide workshops which will provide people who normally lack confidence to take part in formal consultations and make their voices heard through photography.

To offer new equipment and machinery that local people can be trained to use in order to enhance their skills and experiences. The classes  will allow students to create their own design and then have it printed on to mugs, t-shirts, hats etc. The group would also like to improve their gallery with a new hanging system and upgrading the lighting.

The development of an urban garden within the grounds of the group’s new facility, which will be open to the community to teach and develop gardening skills through a series of workshop events. It will also feature a sensory garden, memorial area and allotment style area.

The group wish to continue the improvements they have made to the area by clearing the overgrowth from an area that used to be part of an old railway station and uncover some of the old platform. This will then be enhanced by garden planters, railway memorabilia and heritage signage.

To build a ramp at the front of the building to allow members easier access. Currently the group use a short steep ramp at the back of the building. To purchase some equipment for Tuesday’s activity group, e.g.  chess and draughts.

Renton Community Development Trust £5,000

To install replace the old heating system in the community hall with a new gas fired suspending heating system which can be programmed to switch on only when the hall is being used. This will be more cost effective for the group and reduce their carbon footprint.

To purchase outdoor wear for pupils of Gavinburn Primary, which will allow more outdoor learning opportunities, encourage outdoor learning and improve the experience for pupils. To allow greater use of the school’s recently developed forest school and outdoor classroom.

The Get Up and Go Youth Club £5,000

The group are looking to improve the level of activities offered by the club to the same level offered by youth clubs for able bodied young people. The funding will be used to introduce new activities and outings.
