Our Holy Redeemer Parent Council £5,000

The group would like to build an outdoor classroom within the grounds of Our Holy Redeemer Primary for use of the school and wider community. The outdoor classroom would be open during school holidays. It is hoped the provision of an outdoor classroom would encourage children to engage and play in a safe environment.

The project will continue the on-going improvement of Tullichewan community flat by purchasing new carpets and a small fridge. This will help create more interest with local tenants and residents to attend public meetings and planned events.

Craft Group of Park Road £3,200

The project is to make Canny Cookers.  These are had made and require no source of energy (gas or electricity) to generate enough heat to work like a slow cooker. The group will also include a two handled pot. The group will provide training sessions and provide ingredients showing people how to cook using a Canny Cooker.

To complete a programme of works to improve the drainage of the main 11 a side park and also the main 7 a side park. This would include works to limit the effects of the burn which runs beneath both of these parks.

To upgrade the path within the sensory garden, which has become inaccessible for the young people who are wheelchair users or have walking difficulties. This will allow the group to improve the quality and variety of activities they offer.

Ben View Resource Centre £3,120

To fund a two hour weekly group class to offer activities which will support the development of coping strategies for young people’s mental well-being. Sessions will be held by identified facilitators from backgrounds such as dance, yoga, mindfulness instructors etc. and will be supported by Ben View youth volunteers.

The Phoenix / Rock Community Church £5,000

To complete Phase 2 of the refurbishment of the Phoenix Centre. This will include installing a PA system with a projector in the main hall. The PA system will be used for community events (concerts, quiz nights, discos etc.), fitness classes and to provide music for youth clubs. It will also help to equip the space as a resource for hire by other groups

Clydesider Creative Ltd £5,000

To set up two community newsroom hubs with bases in Dumbarton and Clydebank, this would operate once a week. The newsrooms would be staffed by a member of Clydesider Creative who would be on hand to provide support to volunteers to develop their skills and grow their confidence in basic news gathering techniques. The funding would also be used to employ specialist sessional staff and provide additional training in different aspects of media work.
