Group Information (where you are based, number of members, normal group activities etc…): Street Connect Clydebank, based at Park Christian Fellowship in Shelley Road next to the High School, helps people who are in addiction turn their lives around. We reach out in Clydebank's streets, inviting people to meet with us for advice and support. Since April 20, in spite of lockdown, we've met 297 new people and we're working with 115 men & women towards recovery. We send a few to recover with partner rehabs and help others to recover in the community through one-to-one personal support and recovery groups. Our one-to-ones are in the church building but our recovery groups have been mostly on-line during lockdown. We re-opened a small face-to-face group by invitation only in November. We hope to expand that and reopen our drop-in café, which was at Dalmuir Community Centre, as soon as restrictions allow. Meanwhile we have just opened a foodbank at the church with hot soup & tea so folk can stop for a chat as well as picking up what they need. We have 2 staff - locals Craig and Jane. Most of our local volunteers had to take a back seat this year because they are elderly, but we pulled in healthy volunteers from other areas to help out.

What will you use the money for?: We intend to use the money to carry on with what we're doing, helping more Clydebank people have hope they can change their lives for the better. That means street outreach 2-3 times a week, one-to-one support available all week by appointment, recovery groups on-line twice a week, including a women only group, or in person on a Friday afternoon at the church, and when restrictions permit we will re-open our drop-in café which used to be every Monday. With 2 members of staff It costs us over £26,000 to run Street Connect Clydebank for a year, so £5000 will make a big difference in helping us meet those costs.

Who will benefit from this money?: This money is to benefit people who live in Clydebank - people who are struggling with life, maybe they drink too much or take drugs or they've nowhere to live or life's just too hard just now and it's doing their head in. They could do with a listening ear, a hand of support and a route map for change. For people who need to make a radical change to discover the life they really want to live we offer hope because we speak from experience - some of us have been where you are, and we know you can change because we have.
