Group Information (where you are based, number of members, normal group activities etc…): We are based in Alexandria and have approx 80 members. Age Concern Vale of Leven usually meets once a month which helps reduce social isolation and promotes mental health and wellbeing. Our group takes part in social activites and also organises trips and outings to address these issues. We have a caravan at Seton Sands that members, their families and their carers can access offering respite and much needed family time.
What will you use the money for?: As the group have not been able to meet since March 2020 due to Covid our project is:-
Visualising an Afternoon Tea Party -
Working in partnership with the local Phoenix Community Cafe and their volunteers we will provide hampers with contents for an Afternoon Tea and also a Healthy Meal for each member. This will be delivered to their door with a date and time to have their Afternoon Tea. They will be encouraged to envisage attending the Royal George Hotel as we usually would and this will help them feel part of the group again and help stop them from feeling isolated. A healthy meal will be of benefit to all members too. Just to know they are not forgotten and we are all thinking of each other will have an immencely positive effect on members.
Who will benefit from this money?: Visualising an Afternoon Tea will be provided in partnership with Phoenix Community Cafe, Phoenix Management Staff and their volunteers. There are 80 members of Age Concern Vale of Leven and a number of volunteers from Pheonix Community Cafe who will benefit from this project. We will reduce the feelling of social isolation and promote health and wellbeing of our 80 members and this will also have a positive affect on their family members and carers. This project will encourage partnership working, intergenerational activities and will promote geographical communities to come together.
We foresee this project being beneficial to the community in Dumbarton West as they will see the great partnership approach in local papers. Phoenix Management Staff and Volunteers will then hold Tea Dances in their local Centre and will invite our members along promoting a parntership approach within different geographical communities and communities of interest.
Proposed on behalf of: Age Concern Vale of Leven - £1350
